Hilltop Remodel & Refresh – Killeen TX

These clients had the patience of saints! Supply chain issues affect the design world too & this project was no exception… but patience and perseverance paid off so big with this gorgeous remodel and refresh.

Glam meets comfort in this design with bright and airy neutral grays – and then we added a touch of drama with the bold black accents.

The kitchen didn’t need much as the clients had already darkened the original stained cabinets to a moody & distressed black. The appliances were also previously updated but the original earth toned granite & backsplash remained. Together with the client we shopped for the perfect countertop stone and landed on a stunning white calcite choice with faint swirls of gray for an elegant marbled finish. The coordinating marble backsplash tile in a herringbone pattern, gold accents on the faucet and accessories set the tones for the rest of the open main living space.

After the old fireplace mantel was removed, we carried the marble herringbone tile onto the surround as well. Black shiplap on the facade with a simple stained mantel created a sleek and updated feel in the room. Comfy fabrics on the sofa, pillows & throws helped to warm up the space. Long casually elegant drape panels were the final pieces to bring the whole look together.

In the end, the client has an inviting, comfortable and gorgeous space to live in that is also a masterpiece to show off when entertaining opportunities come up!

Stunning Temple Kitchen Remodel

This sweet past client in Temple TX called on us again for another project! Her kitchen was in dire need of an update and that’s exactly what we gave it!

Since the footprint of the space would stay the same, we were able to save money by only replacing the cabinet doors in most places. This allowed the style to be updated and some minor function changes around the refrigerator area. The biggest cabinet transformation was in the space where the old pantry was located – we redesigned it into a stunning coffee bar with glass front cabinets & a beverage cooler.

Beams were installed on the ceiling for a bit of dimension and then further highlighted with updated integrated LED lighting. The pendants and dining chandelier shimmer with just the right sheen of gold – which we carried onto the backsplash and cabinet hardware as well. The calcite counters mimic the marble look the client desired while offering durability that marble can’t. New stainless steel appliances brought the space to the next level of style and function.

Casual drapes & rug plus the perfect amount of simple decor complete this gorgeous new kitchen with nothing being under or over-done.  The client was thrilled to see the space completed and has been enjoying it every day since!

Dallas Bachelor Pad Project 2020

Everyone needs a comfortable place to call home and this week we were able to help with that! A Dallas bachelor – a small apartment – and Maison Chic Interiors worked together to set up a stylish home in a simple and affordable way.

The Problem

One of the problems that apartment dwellers encounter when sourcing furniture that is the appropriate scale for a small space. Many of the name brand furniture stores offer endless options of large and over-stuffed sofas & chairs but they tend to look quite ridiculous in an apartment. We solved this problem by shopping in stores that offered smaller scale items while still providing comfortable seating.

The Solutions

The black sofa & bar stools were sourced at IKEA – which is famous for being the perfect place to maximize space! The rustic leather butterfly chair was found at Pottery Barn. Texture and comfort were added in the pillows, rug and throw. And like I have said in every other project…”lighting is everything.” Two inexpensive rice paper lamps flank the perfectly positioned TV console.

To bring just a touch of personality to the space – we added 2 black and white cactus photos and a fun letter board with a family quote that means a lot to the client. Artificial succulents always help to add a bit of green without saddling anyone with plant maintenance.

Our bachelor client was thrilled and so were we! Enjoy the before and after photos and let us know if you’re thinking about a new look in your space!

H & L Main Living & Kitchen Remodel – Academy Texas https://maisonchicinteriors.com/h-l-main-living-kitchen-remodel-academy-texas/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=h-l-main-living-kitchen-remodel-academy-texas Tue, 20 Aug 2019 23:01:55 +0000 https://maisonchicinteriors.com/?p=1351

H & L Main Living & Kitchen Remodel – Academy Texas – Interior Designer

HAVE NO FEAR – MCI IS HERE!

This project was WOW from the beginning! We were so thrilled to get the call for a design & kitchen remodel consult and even more giddy to see the space in person. These wonderful clients moved to the area to be near their daughter and grand-babies. They purchased a large home near Academy TX on a lot that suited all of their exterior needs. The home wasn’t exactly what they needed or wanted and that is where Maison Chic Interiors arrived on the scene.

WHAT HAPPENED HERE?

After our initial meeting and tour of the home it was obvious that some previous attempts at transformation had occurred with past owners. The home was originally built as a somewhat rustic/tuscan style – except the kitchen was white and oddly out of sorts with the rest of the design. The tall bar top cut the open space in half – and the lone column at the formal dining space looked like a pirate’s peg leg standing in the middle of the room. Previous owners had added to and changed things like built-in shelves, lighting fixtures and window treatments. Any design flow that was once there, was no more.

ALL IN FAVOR SAY “DESIGN!”

Everyone was in agreement that major changes had to be made to truly open up the large main area and create a united design with defined spaces. H wanted a design that offered a more rustic-modern farmhouse feel and L was firm about wanting mid-century elements in the new space. Our work was definitely cut out for us – and we were up for the challenge!

GUT FEELING

Sometimes – you have to undo it – to do it right. This was the case in our kitchen. It all had to go – total gut. Open kitchens – although very posh and cool…don’t offer a lot of storage space since there isn’t usually a lot of space for upper cabinets. Hmmm…what to do – what to do? We put our thinking caps on and pondered about just how often the teenie-tiny bay area breakfast nook would really be used if it was only outfitted with a small 2-3 person table. The answer was – “never.” So – in a genius effort to maximize as much available space as possible – we extended the kitchen counters into that bay and BAM! The kitchen was suddenly twice as big!! This was a decision that no one looked back on with doubt – the end result was not only stunning but absolutely 100% functional. And…no seating space was harmed in the making of this redo. The new counter height island & bar gave the client’s 4 eating spaces! All of the cabinets were custom measured and made with love by Moseley Cabinets out of Copperas Cove Texas. Jim Moseley did a fantastic job – so much so that the clients hired him to replace all of the cabinets throughout the house!

TO TOP IT OFF

Now that we had the foundation pieces in place (those gorgeous cabinets) – we needed counter tops that were stately enough to equally stun the onlookers. Martin Retana with MR Granite was tasked with this part of the project and he came through with professionalism, quality stone and a top-notch install job – all on time as promised. The stone we chose is Tormenta Blanca calcite – meant to mimic marble in it’s aesthetic but more like granite regarding it’s durability & price. It was the perfect choice to top the white cabinets and gray island. A bold patterned cement tile adorns the backsplash and brings in a slight mid-cen feel along with the more farmhouse style shaker cabinets. All-in-all the kitchen is the perfect mesh of both styles and both clients were equally happy with the result.

WE WERE CRUSHING ON THE SOFA – BIG TIME

The single inspiration piece to this collaboration was a a gorgeous dark blue velvet sofa. It was soft. It was fab. It was perfect. It’s the kind of furniture that makes you sit across the room and just stare for hours. The space plan called for 2 accent chairs – and a small L-shaped sectional sofa. The sofa was the mid-cen element and the chairs brought in a traditional balance. The accent tables in soft gold with wooden tops had a little touch of rustic and modern and helped blend it all together in perfect harmony.

BUTTERFLY BLISS

The dining room chandelier was the inspiration for a butterfly theme – and we took that and RAN! The Modern Monarch chandelier brought the mid-cen flare into our room – and the rustic raw edge table offered H’s touch – which we gladly spread through the rest of the space with a raw edge mantle and raw edge floating shelves in the kitchen. Then, a shiplap accent wall – but not washed or distressed as we usually see – no, no, no,  this shiplap was high-gloss white – shiny and new! The same technique was done on the rock fireplace as well – covering up the sandy river rock and transforming something meant for the exterior – so it melded seamlessly on the interior. The peg-leg column and bulk-head arches were demo’d out and the formal dining space was now truly a part of the magnificent new open concept. L is an amazing artist & painter and WOW – she really pulled out all the stops in her own design. We commissioned her to paint her own custom butterfly piece for the accent wall – and “stunning” is not even close to what it is. It is definitely her pièce de résistance. WAY TO GO L!!! The fluttery butterfly silhouettes flowing effortlessly around the painting were the final touches to this one of a kind dining space.

OUT OF THE CLOSET

Once upon a time, there lived 2 coat closets behind the front door in an entry way that simply was not living up to it’s potential. No more. The 2 closets were demo’d out – and our amazing cabinet maker created an entry bench and drop-zone that will be 110% more functional and beautiful for these clients in their everyday living. The patterned cement tile & island paint color were brought into the space as well and as you gaze across the scene of the entire space from this vantage point – there isn’t a single thing that is off or unbalanced.

Harker Heights Interior Design – 70s Ranch Remodel

70s Ranch Remodel Maison Chic Interiors was so honored to be part of this amazing remodel in Harker Heights. The client purchased a home that had undergone an extensive amount of work already but was unhappy with several elements of the restyle, specifically the kitchen. There was also a driving desire open the plan by removing the walls that divided the dining room & family room as well as the wall between the old galley style kitchen and the family room. The original house was very segregated and the vision was to create an inviting open concept that would allow for more practical use of the space.

This Harker Heights interior design masterpiece is a stunner! The formal dining room space was enclosed where once open at the entryway to create a fabulous butler pantry/laundry room with a one-of-kind custom hexagon shaped center island. The formal living room became the new dining table area and a large peninsula bar was installed in the kitchen to allow for convenient everyday dining. The kitchen received a complete overhaul complete with new custom shaker style cabinets, gorgeous white marbled quartz countertops, awe inspiring black & white patterned backsplash, a top of the line slide in range, built in convection microwave oven, custom vent hood and a sleek stainless steel farmhouse sink. A feature wall was added along the entry wall and continued under the bar top – adorned with stunning black shiplap.

This 70s Ranch Remodel became a breathtaking work of art full of personality, practicality and thoughtful features that only come with a custom design.
